Dr. Oscar Perez-Leal received his M.D. from the Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia in 2002 and an M.S. in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship from Temple University’s Fox School of Business in 2015.In 2003, he joined the Fundación Instituto de Inmunología de Colombia’s (FIDIC) Laboratory Of Molecular Biology Of Malaria Parasites where he worked on the identification of novel membrane protein of the malaria parasite plasmodium vivax.He joined the research team of Dr. Salim Merali at Temple University School of Medicine as a postdoctoral fellow in 2005.He is currently a Research Associate Professor at Temple University School of Pharmacy’s Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research and the current focus of his research is the identification of novel compounds that promote activation of the antioxidant response in human cells that may be useful as therapies for the treatment of fatty liver disease.
